Bobby Frasor enters his third season as the director of basketball operations at UAB.

"Bobby is a national championship player at North Carolina and played at a very high level," head coach Jerod Haase said. "He is an absolute natural fit. Bobby is a people person, communicates well and is a hard-worker. I think those traits will really be a benefit to this program."

"I am excited to be in Birmingham and at UAB," Frasor said. "My dad coached high school for almost 30 years and as soon as I told him I was going to UAB, the first name he brought up was coach (Gene) Bartow. To be somewhere with a great basketball tradition and working for a guy like coach Haase, someone who coached me for four years, is a great opportunity. I'm jumping in with both feet and very excited about getting started."

Frasor, who was a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2005-09 and helped the team to the 2009 national championship, comes to UAB after serving as the assistant video coordinator at his alma mater during the 2011-12 campaign.

Frasor played in 109 games in his college career and started 42 times. He made 31 of those starts during his rookie season on his way to a spot on the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team. He finished his four-year career at UNC with a record of 124-22, including three ACC regular-season titles, two ACC postseason championships and two Final Four appearances.

After he graduated, Frasor tried his hand at professional basketball. He played overseas in Bulgaria and Cyprus, before injuries forced him to retire from playing professionally.

Prior to coming to North Carolina, Frasor was a four-year starter at Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Ill., where he earned McDonald's All-America and EA Sports All-America honors. He finished his career there as a three-time all-conference and two-time all-state player.

Frasor's dad, Bob, won 398 games in 27 years as the boys basketball head coach at Eisenhower High School in Chicago, Ill.

Frasor graduated in 2009 from UNC with a degree in communications and resides in Birmingham.
