BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB signee Johnny Lieske was selected to participate in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game on Sunday, July 21. Lieske, a member of the New Bedford Bay Sox, was a part of the victorious Eastern Division team, which defeated the Western Division squad 2-1.
Lieske pitched one scoreless inning for the Eastern Division All-Stars, surrendering only one hit. The Machesney Park, Ill. native entered in the third inning of the game, helping the squad hold its Western Division foes scoreless for the final eight innings of play.
This summer, Lieske has a record of 1-1 in seven outings for the Bay Sox. He holds an ERA of 3.00 and has 31 strikeouts. In his latest game, Lieske went five innings for his first win of the summer against the Mystic Schooners on Saturday, July 27.
The New England Collegiate Baseball League will wrap up its regular season on Friday, August 2. Lieske and the Bay Sox will play the Ocean State Waves in their final game of the regular season on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET in New Bedford.
