BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three former members of the UAB baseball team are currently continuing their careers in the minor leagues. Turner Lee, Chase Mallard, and Patrick Palmeiro are all actively playing professionally across North America.

Lee has appeared in seven contests for the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays, Toronto’s Rookie affiliate in the Gulf Coast League, in 2014. The Mobile, Ala. native holds a 1-1 record with a 7.71 ERA. He has fanned 11 batters in 15.1 innings on the mound.

Mallard was recently promoted to the Vancouver Canadians, Toronto’s Short-Season A affiliate in the Northwest League. The Cullman, Ala. native has been lights out since his promotion. Mallard owns a 2-0 record with a 0.61 ERA. He has allowed one earned run, struck out 13, and walked only one in 14.2 innings pitched for Vancouver.

Palmeiro is in his third season in the Chicago White Sox organization and is currently playing for the Great Falls Voyagers, Chicago’s Rookie affiliate in the Pioneer League. The Colleyville, Texas native owns a .256 batting average in 21 games played. In Great Falls’ latest series, Palmeiro was 5-for-13 with two home runs and five runs batted in.
