BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Former UAB baseball player Ryan Prinzing is one of 15 recipients of the 2014 Jim Castaneda Postgraduate Scholarship, Conference USA announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Conference USA annually presents the $4,000 postgraduate scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the C-USA faculty athletics representatives and approved by the Board of Directors. This is the sixth year the award has been named for Dr. Castaneda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach, and faculty athletics representative before he passed away in November 2008.
Prinzing was a four-year letterwinner for the UAB baseball team, helping the squad to two 30-win seasons, the 2012 Conference USA title, and a trip to the 2012 NCAA Tournament in his collegiate career. In addition, the Oswego, Ill. native became the first Academic All-American in program history in 2013. Prinzing earned his bachelor’s degree in management earlier this spring and plans to continue his studies at UAB as he pursues his M.B.A.
