BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 30 UAB baseball team earned the second seed for the 2014 Conference USA Tournament, which will begin on Wednesday, May 21 in Hattiesburg, Miss. UAB will face No. 7 seed UTSA in the third contest of the day at 4 p.m. CT at Pete Taylor Park.
The Conference USA Tournament features the top eight clubs in the 13-team league. The format is two double-elimination brackets with a single-elimination championship game set for Sunday, May 25. The championship contest will be televised on the CBS Sports Network at 1:00 p.m. CT, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
UAB enjoyed one of its finest regular seasons in program history in 2014. The Blazers won 35 games, its most since the 1993 campaign and third-most in UAB history. The club won 20 games in Conference USA play, its most in league action in school history. Its second-place finish in the regular season is its best finish as a league member.
