BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB baseball team will play its final home contest of the 2013 season on Tuesday against the Troy Trojans. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Young Memorial Field.

John Frost totaled a career-high four hits and knocked in three, while Ryan Prinzing clubbed a double and hit a three-run homer to defeat the Trojans 9-3. Ivan De Jesus also went deep for the Blazers and Tyler Mims added a pair of hits.
On the mound, Sam Kelley went seven strong innings, yielding only three runs off six hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter in the victory.

The Blazers took one of three games in a road series at Houston last week and sit at 19-33 overall on the season.
2B Tyler Hamby hit .455 for the week, going 5-for-11 at the dish with three RBI. He recorded his first career three-hit showing in Friday’s 8-7 victory vs. the Cougars.
3B John Frost also swung the bat well, finishing 5-for-12 in Houston for a .417 batting average. Frost now has 248 career hits, ranking fourth in UAB history. Over the weekend, Frost also moved into eighth place in Blazer lore for career total bases with 335.
Friday’s come-from-behind 8-7 victory against UH was UAB’s first win of the season when trailing after eight innings. UAB was down 7-6 entering the top of the ninth at Cougar Field before Jeff Schalk knocked in a run and a Cougar error allowed the eventual winning run to score.
RHP Cameron Rose pitched effectively in relief on Sunday at Houston, tying a career-long outing of 4.2 innings, yielding only one hit and one run (unearned).
After Tuesday’s contest, the Blazers will be fighting for a Conference USA postseason berth at Tulane, with a three-game seriest beginning on Thursday. UAB trails Marshall by one game in the current standings for the eighth and final playoff spot. However, the Green and Gold does hold the tiebreaker with the Thundering Herd, taking two of three in Charleston, W.Va., earlier this season.
The Trojans have been one of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference this season, sporting an overall record of 37-14 and 18-9 in league play.
Troy has been an excellent team at home, going 28-5 on its home turf, with one of those losses being a 9-3 decision to the Blazers back on March 12. The Trojans are 8-8 on the road this season.
On the season, five regulars own batting averages above .300, as the team is hitting .302 as a whole. Logan Pierce has the top average, hitting .365 on the season, while Trae Santos has 15 homers and 62 RBI.
Another power source for the Trojans is Danny Collins, who is hitting .355 with 10 homers, 22 doubles and 59 RBI for the season.
