BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team will host Conference USA-foe Tulane in its final three-game series at home this weekend. The series opens on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Young Memorial Field. Saturday’s contest will begin at 2:00 p.m., while the series-finale will be played on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The three-game series marks the final home set for seven UAB seniors. Seniors Ben Bullard, Ivan De Jesus, Turner Lee, Chase Mallard, Ryan Prinzing, Cameron Rose, and Ruben Tresgallo will be recognized on Saturday for their contributions to the program. The senior class helped UAB to its second NCAA regional appearance in program history in 2012.

Beat The Streak
Sophomore infielder Adam Smith hit a walk-off single to secure a 4-3 victory in 13 innings for the UAB baseball team against crosstown-foe Samford on Wednesday, May 7 at Regions Field. With the win, UAB snapped Samford’s nine-game win streak in the series between the two Birmingham schools.

With two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, redshirt junior infielder Matt Morse dropped a double into right field. With Morse on second base, Smith recorded his third of the night, singling to right field to seal the win for UAB.

Redshirt freshman left-handed pitcher Adam Lamar was credited with the win, pitching the final 3.0 innings. Lamar allowed one hit, struck out three, and walked two in his second victory of the year. The Rogersville, Ala. native was one eight Blazer pitchers to see time on the mound.

Freshman Phenom
UAB freshman left-handed pitcher Thomas Lowery is one of only three Conference USA pitchers to have registered at least four wins and four saves this season. Lowery, along with redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Kevin Alexander of Florida Atlantic and senior right-handed pitcher Ryan Williams of East Carolina, are the three C-USA hurlers to reach that plateau in both categories.

In addition, Lowery is one of only three freshman pitchers in Conference USA this season to record at least four victories and is the only freshman pitcher to have as many as four saves.
