Break Out The Brooms
UAB swept Charlotte this past weekend for its second straight sweep in Conference USA play. It marks the squad’s third sweep in conference action and fifth overall this season, as well.

Senior designated hitter Ryan Prinzing and junior infielder Nathan Vincent each had two hits and two RBI on Friday night in a 6-2 win. On Saturday, UAB exploded for 12 runs and a season-high 16 hits in a 12-2 victory. In the series finale on Sunday afternoon, redshirt junior right-handed pitcher Johnny Lieske went a career-long 7.2 innings en route to a 3-1 win.

One For The Books
The UAB baseball team is having one of its best seasons in program history in 2014. On Sunday, May 4, UAB defeated Charlotte, 3-1, to record its 30th victory of the season. It marked the 13th time in program history and third time in head coach Brian Shoop’s tenure at UAB that the squad topped the 30-win plateau.

In addition, the Blazers won its 16th Conference USA contest on Sunday, May 4 at Charlotte. That marks the most C-USA wins in program history. In addition, with one more conference win that would match the program record set in 1992.
