QUICK RECAP – UAB DOMINATES TROY 6-1 ON THE ROAD
A big win and milestone for the UAB baseball team was achieved in strong fashion in Tuesday night. The Blazers defeated Troy on the road 6-1 to end a six-game losing streak. UAB walked nobody on the night as the Green & Gold head coach Brian Shoop earned his 300th career win with the Blazers and 999th in his career.

The game jumped to a 5-1 advantage for the Blazers off one swing of the bat by Riley McCown in the sixth inning. The senior left fielder crushed a high pitch over the right field wall with Ralat on-base. It was McCown’s first homer of the season and the second of his career. Austin Thomas earned his first win of the season after tying season-highs with five innings pitched and four strikeouts.

SHOOP FOR 1,000
UAB head coach Brian Shoop embarks on his 11th season with UAB and 28th year as a head coach. He is now one wins shy of reaching 1,000 career victories after reaching the 300 win mark with the Green and Gold on Tuesday. He entered the season ranked 14th for career wins among active coaches and 29th in winning percentage among active coaches. He is looking to become just the 80th coach to reach the 1K platform across all divisions. Shoop’s 999 wins ranks tied for 81st all-time with current North Carolina State head coach Elliott Avent.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT
Price Visintainer has seen his batting average skyrocket as of late with 16 hits across his last 12 games. The UAB third baseman is now fourth on the team with a .284 average and has a team-high with 13 walks. He has been a tough out at the plate as his 14 strikeouts are the least on the team for Blazers that have played in 25-or-more games. He leads the team in Conference USA play with a .409 average, .518 on-base percentage and 10 walks against conference foes.

His recent groove has seen him tally five multi-hit games with seven runs and six walks with just one error in the field. Visintainer boasts a .390 batting average (16-for-41) over the last 12 games as he has reached base safely in every game.

SCOUTING LOUISIANA TECH
The Bulldogs were impressive in non-conference play as they won 13 of their first 14 games. Since then, they are 11-12 including a 6-9 mark in Conference USA but have rebounded as of late with five wins in the last six games.

Louisiana Tech is dangerous at the plate, ranking third in the country in doubles (93), 19th in home runs (41) and 18th in runs scored (270).

Nate Harris will likely get a start this weekend for LaTech. The senior relief pitcher by trade has moved into a starting role as of late and tossed gems. He earned C-USA Pitcher of the Week after tossing a three-hit shutout at Rice on Sunday after notching his conference-best eighth save in the Friday night game. Harris boasts a sparkling 1.02 ERA and is second in the country with a 0.74 WHIP.

SERIES HISTORY
The short history between the two teams has the Blazers ahead 11-9 after taking two of three games a season ago, as the weekend series was the C-USA opener for each side. UAB has won seven of the last nine games in the series.
