BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Friday's baseball series opener between UAB and Memphis has been postponed because of inclement weather.

Instead of a single game on Saturday, the teams will now play a split doubleheader at Young Memorial Field. Game one will begin at 1 p.m. CT, one hour earlier than Saturday's originally scheduled start time. The nightcap is slated for 6:30 p.m.

Admission will be free to both games as part of Blazer Blitz, which also features the UAB football Spring Game, the softball team's doubleheader with East Carolina and the men's soccer Alumni Game on Saturday.

UAB (20-13, 6-3 C-USA) enters the weekend in a tie for first place in the Conference USA standings and is looking for its fourth straight league series victory. Memphis (19-14, 3-3 C-USA) took two of three games last weekend from Southern Miss in conference play.

Sunday's series finale is still scheduled for 1 p.m.

Saturday's first game and Sunday's contest will both air live in the Birmingham area on WJOX-AM 690.
