BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB and Memphis were able to squeeze in five innings of baseball on Saturday before heavy storms made their way to Young Memorial Field. The rains push the final four innings of the game back to Sunday at 12 p.m. with game three of the series to be a full nine inning game following the completion of Saturday's game. The Tigers currently lead the Blazers, 8-4, heading into the top of the sixth after senior outfielder Steven Turner scored after he tripled in the fifth.
UAB went up 3-0 in the game after scoring two in the second and one in the third, however a monstrous eight-run Memphis fourth put the Tigers in front 8-3.
UAB got one back in the fifth after Turner scored following his triple to make it 8-4 where things will stand when play resumes on Sunday.
Blazer senior third baseman Ryne Lovdahl already has two hits in the game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
