BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team received both good and bad news Tuesday afternoon.

The bad news occurred when the Blazers learned their seventh game this season had been rained out. The Middle Tennessee contest slated in Murfreesboro Tuesday will try to be made up at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

As for the good news, it came in the form of a No. 35 national ranking in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll presented by CollegeSportsNews.com. UAB (14-6 overall, 2-1 Conference USA) is one of two league teams represented in the Top 35 as Tulane holds a No. 25 spot.

The Rice Owls have the top position in the poll as they have accumulated a 21-5 record through Sunday's action.
