Friday’s baseball game between UAB and Tennessee Tech, scheduled for 3:00 pm CST at UAB’s Young Memorial Field, has been called off because of  steady rain in the Birmingham metro area.

The two are scheduled to play again Saturday at 2:00 pm CST at Young Memorial Field.  Blazer head coach Larry Giangrosso did not indicate whether or not the teams would attempt to play a double-header either Saturday or Sunday in order to complete the scheduled three-game weekend series.

It was the third straight rainout for UAB (5-4), and the fourth this season.  Earlier this week, games vs. South Alabama and Middle Tennessee were also cancelled, and the Blazers had to move their season opener vs. Alabama State from Feb. 12 to Feb. 13 because of rain.

Friday’s rainout marks the first time in 18 seasons at Young Memorial Field that three consecutive games have been rained out.
