BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -

Wednesday's baseball game between UAB and Middle Tennessee, scheduled for 3:00 pm CST at Young Memorial Field, has been cancelled because of wet field conditions.

No makeup date was announced.

It was the second rainout in as many days for the Blazers, Tuesday's scheduled game vs. South Alabama was also called off because of steady rain. 

Rainy weather has become much more of an issue for the UAB program in recent days, because of the absence of a tarp to cover the infield area.   The severe weather of Friday, Feb. 16 wreaked havoc upon the previous tarp at Young Memorial Field, blowing it off the playing surface and shredding it in the fence and trees outside the first base dugout.  

A new tarp was shipped last week and  is expected to arrive some time Thursday (Mar. 1). 

The Blazers will try to play baseball once more on Friday (Mar. 2), as they open a three-game weekend series with Tennessee Tech.  Friday's game is scheduled for 3:00 pm CST.
