BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Harry Clark, a sophomore catcher for the UAB baseball team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
As a freshman on the field last year, Clark played in 32 contests and made 19 starts. He finished his rookie season hitting .299 with a .420 on-base percentage. His batting average improved to .333 over the final 39 contests when he began splitting the starting role after starting catcher Digger Towe went down to injury.
In the classroom, Clark is a sociology major with a minor in history. Last year, he earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Saturday morning on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:30 a.m. on ABC 33/40.
Clark and the Blazers open the 2011 campaign this weekend as they travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete at the Auburn Tournament. UAB will open with Virginia on Friday at 2 p.m. CT, followed by games with Arkansas State (Saturday at 5 p.m. CT) and tournament host Auburn (Sunday at 3 p.m. CT).
