JONESBORO, Ark. ----- The UAB baseball team fell behind early in the first game of a double-header to Arkansas State, eventually falling 8-1. Game two of the double-header is currently underway at Tomlinson Stadium.
James Naile (2-2) picked up the loss for UAB (6-9), surrendering four runs, two earned, on seven hits and two walks. He had two strikeouts.
John Frost was responsible for the only Blazers run of the game, knocking a home run over the right field fence to lead off the fourth inning.
Most of the damage against Naile came in the bottom of the second inning when Arkansas State (10-4) plated three runs on three hits. Two of the three runs came with two outs in the inning.
The Red Wolves added a fourth run in the bottom of the third inning and two more in the eighth and ninth innings.
John Frost went 2-for-4 in the game with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Chandler Hawkins (2-0) got the win for the Red Wolves, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings.
Game two of the doubleheader is currently underway. Cameron Rose (0-0) will be on the mound for the Blazers while Adam Graham (1-0) will pitch for the Red Wolves.
