JACKSONVILLE, Ala. ---- The UAB rifle team used strong showings from SirLinda Gee and Autumn Stockwell to finish fifth in the air rifle event and seventh overall at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by Jacksonville State at the Gamecock Rifle Range.
The event featured four teams that are ranked in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Top 20 Poll in Jacksonville State (5), Memphis (9), NC State (18) and Columbus State (20).
Gee recorded a team-best score of 580 in the air rifle, which tied for 10th place with Jessica Phenis of Memphis. Teammate Autumn Stockwell was not far behind, with a total of 578, placing her 12th in the competition.
Other Blazers that took aim at the range included Maegan Sisk (554), Abi Duke (532), Morgan Fancher (525) and Lindsey Hill (443).
The team score of 2,244 for the Blazers placed them fifth in the competition.
UAB only fired away in the air rifle event, while six of the total eight teams in the tournament also participated in the smallbore event.
JSU captured the best total scores in the air rifle (2,337) and smallbore (2,303) to claim the tournament championship with an overall aggregate score of 4,641.
