WHITNEY MAYS - CROSS COUNTRY
October 11, 2007
Hey Blazer Fans,
This past week has probably been one of the toughest of our season up to this point. Not just physically, but also mentally. After our trip to Notre Dame, two of our six girls were complaining of being sick. One of our team members was sidelined earlier in the year with an illness and unfortunately another girl has recently been sick with the same thing. Because of this, we are now down to five runners. However, we will not let this bring our spirits down. We had a very intense and quality week of workouts and will continue to focus on achieving big things at conference.
Our schedule has changed a bit and we are headed to Sewanee to race this Friday. This will be more of a laid back meet and we're hoping to run as a pack. This is our first 6K of the season and will be a good opportunity for us to get the feel of a smaller race, similar to the size of our conference meet.
I'm excited that we will be returning to Birmingham on Friday night after the race, so we will be able to go to the Homecoming game. I have missed the game every year because of a race, and I'm excited that I will finally be able to attend my first UAB Homecoming football game!!!
