Hey Blazer fans!

It's been a few weeks since I last submitted a blog, and I'm sorry about that. School has catching up to me these days as we've been on the road quite a bit.

Another couple of rough weeks for us have slowly creeped by. We have now failed to win a game in the last 8! It's been very discouraging, but the guys haven't given up hope yet! We traveled all of last week as we played SMU and Marshall. Going to Dallas we knew that we'd have to bring our best to the field as we were facing the #6 ranked SMU Mustangs. We got off to a fantastic start by scoring in the first three minutes! We were so excited, but we seemed to lose steam as the first half wore on. They answered with two goals before the end of the first half, and the final score remained the same. It was a game we would have loved to have won, and may have been the first win of a streak that would round out our season, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

With a new attitude we flew from Dallas to Louisville and drove two hours or so to a hotel on the Kentucky-West Virginia state line to stay for the weekend. We couldn't stay nearer to campus because that weekend was the 30th anniversary of the plane crash that killed many of the players and coaches on Marshall's football team in 1977. We went into the game with an attitude that was of determination and almost desparation for a win. We fought and fought with Marshall all game, but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Unfortunately, they snuck a goal in with 30 seconds left leaving us 5-8-1. Everyone took this loss very hard knowing that we should have run the score up on Marshall very easily, but we also knew that we'd have to focus on the upcoming games and that another loss still leaves us with our fate in our own hands.

We played Wednesday night at Alabama A&M in Huntsville, AL in the torrential downpour and temperatures in the 40's. We ended up losing in the second overtime period with only a couple of minutes left. It seemed like the perfect summary of our season.

All hope is not lost though, because our chances for a spot in the conference tournament have not yet faded completely. We are sitting at the bottom of the table (9th in C-USA) and are playing against UCF (ranked 8th in C-USA) on Saturday at 7:00 at UAB. Our future is in our hands at this point! If, no... WHEN we win the game this Saturday we'll have a great chance to get into the C-USA post-season tournament, and from there it's a whole new season!

Everyone, please come out and support us! It's one of our last home matches and we need to fill the stands with some faithful Blazer fans! Tell your friends! Tell your family! This is a huge game!!!

Until next time... Go Blazers!
