SAM HUNT - FOOTBALL
November 20, 2007
For 17 of us, today will be the last full pad practice of our college football careers. For the rest of the team it'll be the last time they get to hit somebody before spring practice.
On Saturdays the offense fights back to back with the defense, but I'll be the first one to say, Tuesday and Wednesday we square up and get after it. I love every one of them but we don't do any handshaking or high fiving during a Tuesday team scrimmage.
Today the intensity is going to be as high as ever and somebody's going to get hit so hard that their body is primed to fight or flee. There are reasons we haven't been successful this year. Some of them may vary depending on who you ask, but I can say for sure that we never lost a game because we fled. I just ate a big breakfast and I'm looking forward to it.
I like the occasional chick flick, the scariest scary movies, highest roller coasters, saddest country tunes, soulful gospel songs, passionate sermons, blues on the dobro, intense ping pong games with my brothers, and an occasional confrontation.
Kind of random thoughts, but emotions make life worth living and I've experienced a lot of them through football. Despite our record this team has been blessed in so many ways and with one week to go we'll still play with the emotion that comes natural.
