SAM HUNT - FOOTBALL
November 6, 2007
One of my good buddies from high school plays defensive end at Wake Forest, and I talked to him last night about their season and ours. He's been an outstanding player at Wake and has been there for almost five years now with a medical redshirt that will give him another year.
I talked to him about the way things were going around here and the way things are being done to build our football program. As we talked he seemed to think there were a lot of similarities between what's going on here and what Coach Grobe and their program went through on their way to the top of the ACC. Their team struggled at times but eventually overcame depth and injury issues to win an ACC championship. They're now bowl eligible with an outside shot at another ACC championship.
Even though personally I haven't benefited from the actual winning success as a player I am a part of the evolution of this team and program. From week to week coaches and players have learned a lot and from the inside out things are getting better. Eventually it will show up on the scoreboard.
