1989 - Derek Tarr is named head men's tennis coach at UAB. Tarr was a four-time All-SEC player at Auburn and won the SEC championship at No. 1 singles in 1981. Tarr had a 91-16 career singles record.
1991 - UAB captures the championship of the Sun Belt Conference.
1992 - UAB finishes 22-2 and wins the Great Midwest Conference title as top singles player Frank Schaffner earns ITA All-America honors and ranks as high as No. 8 nationally among singles players. Schaffner also participates in the singles competition at the NCAA Tournament. Derek Tarr is named Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.
1993 - UAB wins the Great Midwest Conference championship and earns its first NCAA Tournament berth. The Blazers have three different players among the top 20 singles players during the season with Schaffner tops at No. 7. Derek Tarr is named Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.
1993 - Mike Kirsten and Paul Rosner are named ITA All-Americans in doubles.
1994 - UAB wins fourth straight conference title as Vaughan Snyman is an All-American in singles with Paul Rosner and Snyman earning those accolades in doubles. Derek Tarr is named Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.
1995 - UAB wins fifth straight conference title as Derek Tarr is named Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive season. The Blazers qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Gerd Albiez is named All-American in singles and Rosner and Snyman are tabbed for All-America honors in doubles.
1996 - UAB finishes second in Conference USA and earns a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
1997 - The Blazers earn their third straight bid to the NCAA Tournament.
2000 - Martin Woisetschlager named ITA All-American in singles as he reaches a high rank of No. 12 nationally during the season.
