Baseball
1979- UAB baseball program is born under the leadership of former major league player and manager Harry "The Hat" Walker.
February 26, 1984 - First baseball game played at Young Memorial Field as the Blazers beat Vanderbilt, 14-8. Joey Cora of Vanderbilt got the first hit in the park, while UAB's Mike Goff was the first Blazer to record a hit.
1988 - Pete Rancont takes over as the second head coach of the Blazers.
1991- UAB earns its first-ever NCAA Regional berth after winning the Sun Belt Tournament. The Blazers went 1-2 at the regional, earning a victory against Rutgers before being eliminated by Oklahoma State.
1992- UAB posts a school record 43 wins en route to a Great Midwest Tournament title.
1994- Jay Cole becomes the first Blazer to garner All-America accolades.
1998 - Shayne Carnes becomes UAB's second All-American.
2000- Larry Giangrosso named third head coach of the Blazers.
2006 - Brian Shoop named fourth head coach of the Blazers.
