BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The return of UAB football would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Birmingham so it's only fitting that UAB led Conference USA in attendance during the 2017 campaign.
The Blazers averaged 26,375 fans throughout their six home games and sent the UAB faithful home happy every time by finishing 6-0 at Legion Field for the first time in program history.
Included in that was UAB's historic return on Sept. 2 in which Birmingham helped set an attendance record as 45,212 fans poured in to Legion Field to witness the Blazers' 38-7 victory over Alabama A&M.
The Blazers had over 20,000 fans at five of their six home games with the one exception coming against UTEP on Thanksgiving break. Four of the six games had more than 24,500 fans at each.
In all, UAB averaged exactly 6,000 more fans than the second closest C-USA school (Louisiana Tech, 20,375/game).
The excitement for UAB football was truly on display during the 2017 season and fans can now purchase their season tickets for 2018 by clicking here.
UAB is 11 days away from playing Ohio University in the Bahamas Bowl. The game is set for Dec. 22 at 11:30 a.m. CST on ESPN.
