Antonia Nugent is a graduate assistant in strength conditioning at UAB, working with women's tennis, cross country and track and field. Nugent graduated in 2008 from UAB with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She passed the CSCS exam in 2009 and is now working on her master's in exercise physiology.
Nugent was a four-year letterwinner for the UAB women's tennis team (2004-2008) under then-coach Mert Ertunga. She finished her senior year playing No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles. The team reached a national ranking of No. 57 that year.
A native of Liverpool, England, Nugent was actively involved in numerous sports as a youth but her main focus was on tennis. She was the Lanchashire Under 18's Doubles Champion in 2002 and 2003 and the North of England Doubles Champion in 2002. She also competed for Lancashire County and won the England National County Cup in 2007.
