Daniel Killilea joined the UAB Athletic Department in August 2005 as Marketing Coordinator. After two years in the role of the primary events coordinator for the university's home athletic events, he began the transition to one more focused on community relations. As Assistant Director for Marketing and Community Relations, he currently heads up a number of initiatives designed to give UAB Athletics more exposure in the community both on- and off-campus, including community outreaches, new student and employee orientations, and the maintenance of departmental websites. He oversees one of the department's flagship programs, the Blazer Classroom Connection, which provides UAB student-athletes with a way to impact local Birmingham elementary school children and encourage them to make good life choices. Killilea is also responsible for various special events at UAB, as well as sport-specific duties for football, men's basketball, and baseball.
Prior to joining the school in a full-time capacity, he served in part-time roles for UAB Athletics Marketing and Game Operations, including stints as public address announcer for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
Killilea has been a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) since 2005. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2003 from UAB, where he received a chemistry degree with university and departmental honors.
