Josh Watson is in his eighth year of working in academic support at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and currently serves as the athletic academic advisor for the baseball, men's & women's golf, and rifle teams. Throughout his tenure at UAB, Watson has served as intern, tutor coordinator and advisor. In addition, he has worked with many of the sports, including synchronized swimming, women's tennis and men's soccer.
In addition to his advising duties, Watson is involved in several Professional Associations: National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA).
At the institutional level, he is involved with the Committee on Academic Advising (CAA), and Advising Student-Athletes Workgroup. Watson has been involved in several internal hiring processes, and continually seeks out professional development opportunities.
Watson earned a bachelor's in interdisciplinary studies from Chadron State College in 1998 and a master's in physical education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2001.
