Brian Coutras joined the Blazers' athletic department in February 2007 as the department's Head Athletic Equipment Manager.
After four and a half years in college and high school administration, Coutras returns to the equipment room. Prior to his arrival at UAB, he was the Athletic Director at North Laurel High School in London, Ky. He spent a total of six years at Conference USA-rival Marshall as the Head Athletic Equipment Manager from 1999-2002 and Director of Football Operations from 2002-2005. Before going to Marshall, he was the Assistant Equipment Manager at the University of Cincinnati where he worked with current athletic trainer Mike Jones. Following his graduation from Middle Tennessee State University in 1996, Coutras served as the Football Equipment Room Intern at Indiana University.
Coutras is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and the American Football Coaches Association. He also served on the Schutt Sports Athletic Council in 2001 and the Football Coaches Advisory Board in 2006. He has worked with and been involved with several championship or postseason events such as the Motor City Bowl, GMAC Bowl, Fort Worth Bowl, papajohns.com Bowl, NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and the SEC Baseball Tournament.
PERSONAL: He is married to the former Trisha Stone of Murfreesboro, Tenn. The couple has three children: Claire Elizabeth, Andrew Stone, and Callie Suzanne.
