Drew Barnette joined UAB in the summer of 2008 as the academic advisor for men's soccer and softball. In the summer of 2010, he added women's soccer. He also works with the CHAMPS/Life Skills program as a member of the Community Service Committee, where he helps organize community service opportunities for all the student-athletes.
Barnette graduated from Xavier University in 2002 with a bachelor's in history. He earned his master's from the University of Dayton in college student personnel.
Barnette began his career in athletics as an intern in the Wright State athletic department in 2005 while he was working toward his master's and was hired on as an assistant academic advisor in the summer of 2006. While there, he worked with men's and women's basketball, tennis, men's and women's soccer, softball and baseball as a tutor, mentor and a liaison between the coaches and professors.
