BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB Athletics Marketing staff has been been honored with a prestigious national marketing award by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) for the 2012-13 year.
UAB won silver in the category of Single Game Attendance - Game Day Entertainment for "Hoops on the Haasephalt," an event held last October to tip off the college basketball season under first-year Blazers' head coach Jerod Haase.
Members of the UAB athletics marketing staff include Brad Smith, Assistant AD for Marketing; Daniel Killilea, Assistant Director of Marketing; Heather McGowan, Assistant Director of Marketing; and Seth Tanner, Video Coordinator.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness.
An association record of more than 1,000 award entries were received for the 2012-13 year. The winners were recognized during NACMA's 22nd Annual Convention at the awards ceremony last Friday, June 14 in Orlando, Fla.
