BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB Blazers announced Thursday the launching of a first-time initiative, and one that looks to build excitement for the 2012 UAB football season, called "'Play Your Part' 50 Events in 50 Days".
UAB athletics is asking for current UAB season ticket holders, donors, Blazer fans and corporate partners, as well as local businesses to open up their homes and places of business, to host a "Play Your Part" event. Each host will invite his or her non-season ticket holder friends, neighbors, clients and business associates into their homes or businesses in hopes that they will purchase 2012 football season tickets.
New UAB Head Coach Garrick McGee and members of the Blazers athletic administration will be present at each event making the case to encourage all in attendance why the time is now to purchase season tickets and build support and momentum for UAB Football.
"We want to connect this football program with the greater Birmingham area and increase our presence within the state which is why we are convinced that this initiative will be successful and help us increase season tickets," said McGee. "Everyone has to take ownership and play their part to make this a successful football program."
