Tutors Mentors Awards Prospects

Most people confuse a tutor's role with that of a teacher. Tutoring is different from teaching in several ways, but mostly in its relation to individualized instruction. The major difference is that teaching is distant, while tutoring is more sensitive to the needs of the student. In addition, teaching is broad-based, whereas tutoring is more specific, direct, and specialized. Tutoring is often used, therefore, as a supplement or an extension to teaching. A tutor's role is best defined as a facilitator, aiding in the student-athlete's efforts.
